My oldest son plays sports, and as a dad who played sports growing up I couldn't be more proud of his hard work and dedication.

While I spent my Saturday afternoon watching him and the rest of his teammates play football I gathered a list of 10 things I thought of while watching him play.

1. I'd appreciate it if my son would learn to kick. Punters rarely get injured.
2. There are a ton of bees here today. If I get stung in September, I’m going to be upset.
3. The “Walking Taco” at the concession stand is excellent.
4. Wow, my kid’s team is real good.
5. My son has bad eyesight, and he isn’t wearing glasses or contacts. He has a pair of goggles. They aren't on his face.
6. They're playing really strange music in between quarters and at half time. Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl" and an unedited version of House of Pain's "Jump Around." The "if your girl steps up, I'm smacking the hoe" line was particularly cringe worthy.
7. My dad is here. I really hope he doesn’t say anything to embarrass me. I just realized I’m back in high school.
8. Football is dangerous. I'm kind of OK with my son standing on the sideline.
9. Every team needs kids that don’t play. They fill the squad out, and he loves it. Good for the kid, bad for the parents.
10. Did I mention the ridiculous amount of bees? They’re everywhere.

The kids were too. They won in shutout fashion and my kid played.
