5 People in Rockford Who are Already Having a Really Bad 2017
If you've ever wondered what my mornings are like, prepping for the Steve Shannon Show, then let me pull back the curtain for you a little and explain.
The first 30 minutes of my day are used to search the web for news stories, national, lifestyle and of course, local. It can be difficult at times because there's so much to talk about and so much going on that it can be hard to choose.
Obviously, my goal is to bring you the most uplifting news stories that will have the greatest impact on your life; things that affect your daily life or brings attention to our brothers and sisters in need.
With that said, a lot of news stories fly under the radar and they don't get any mention. Not because they aren't important, but because it's not news I want you to start your day with.
Stories like these; here are five local news stories from around the Stateline that you might have missed and might have you thinking that maybe 2017 isn't going to be so bad after all. Here are 5 people in Rockford who are already having a really bad 2017.
How would you like to start the new year with a shot to the butt? According to WTVO, a 53-year-old man was walking down a sidewalk near Auburn and Ridge when he was punched in the face, heard gunfire and was hit in the buttocks. Thankfully he was ok and is expected to recover.
According to WTVO, 40-year-old Brandon Spain was arrested after he was caught breaking into washers and dryers at a laundromat to steal change. He's being charged with Burglary and Felony Criminal Damage to Property.
The most unfortunate piece to this story is that the woman shot in the wrist was struck by gunfire while she was sitting in the comfort of her own kitchen. According to WTVO, she will be ok and there are no suspects at this time.
We weren't even a full day into the new year when Mauricio Luna, Jr was arrested for shooting his gun into the air in the parking lot of Franchesco's. According to WIFR, Luna Jr. was there celebrating his birthday but left and wasn't let back in. He's being charged with reckless discharge and aggravated assault.
Anyone who bought these during the holidays may have started out their new year with salmonella. No thanks. According to WIFR, Hostess has issued a voluntary recall for the holiday Twinkies because the white coating may be contaminated with salmonella. People who come in contact with salmonella will experience flu like symptoms like fever, stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea. Not the best way to kick off 2017.
