5 Photos You’ll See on Any Rockfordian’s Facebook Page Before Summer Ends
Is it just me or has this summer flown by? I've barely had enough time to get a sunburn that turns into "Mandy Jerky" (what I like to call dead skin when I peel) and that happens every summer. But, despite the fact that August has started and we're heading into the home stretch of the summer months, there's still plenty of fun to be had in Rockford.
Fun that I hope you plan on sharing on your Facebook page because I'm tired of seeing posts about the Presidential election.
For those of you who have blocked your liberal or right winged friends and you're all about sharing how you and the family are spending the next 30 days or so until the school year starts, here's what you can expect to see in your Facebook news feed.
1. Storms
According to Weather.com, August is prime time for severe weather in Rockford and the rest of northern Illinois; you can expect to see a lot of pro and amateur shots of lightening, funnel clouds and tornadoes on Facebook...just please remember to be safe if you're the one sharing.
2. Sunsets
At the end of a busy summer day, it's just nice to sit out on the back patio and enjoy the sun quietly setting in the distance. It's going down earlier and earlier so be sure to enjoy those late sunsets while they last. They're not as fun to photograph when the sun goes down at 4:30.
3. City Market
If you haven't been to Rockford City Market yet this summer, why not? There's only 9 Fridays left to sip on Rockford's best beers, listen to live music, indulge in tasty treats, and shop local with hip, chabby chic street vendors.
4. Fun on the Rock River
Whether it's a casual float down the river, taking a break and docking at Tad's on the Rock, or you're tethered up to others on the Beloit sandbar, a visit to the Rock River is a must before summer ends.
5. Brews and BBQ
For those of you who missed our very first Brews and BBQ event last year, you really missed out; but it was such a huge success that we're doing it again this year and it's two days instead of one. Surely you'll see pics of BBQ slathered ribs, pints of ice cold brew and 90s boy band, Hanson, up on stage.
