#ThrowbackThursday is something of an internet phenomenon, but are you actually doing it right?

Believe it or not, there are some rules you need to follow when partaking in #ThrowbackThursday or #TBT on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

1. If you forgot to post your picture on Thursday and it all of a sudden becomes Friday, you need to sit this one out. "Flashback Friday" is not allowed.

2. Pictures from last week are not acceptable. If you are going to play #TBT you need to go at least 5 years back.

3. If you are going to tag family members in a #TBT photo, it would be nice if the throwback picture includes them looking halfway decent.

4. Throwback Thursday is for sharing with family and friends. If you are going to post a picture of yourself from 10-20 years ago mentioning how much things have changed, that's dumb. No doubt things have changed, it's been 10-20 years. We get it.

5. NO famous people. Reliving that amazing day you met Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie at a Denny's was great for you, but what does it do for us?

6. You only get one shot. If your #ThrowbackThursday post or pic didn't turn out the way you imagined, there's always next week.
