9,000 Pound Christmas Tree Shines in Sinnissippi Park [VIDEO]

A Christmas tree in Rockford's Sinnissippi Park weighs in at 9,000 pounds.

That is a whole lot of tree!

Each year, Sinnissippi Park's Festival of Lights is a sight to be seen. The tradition started in 1989, where there were eleven different displays in Sinnissippi Park.

The displays grow bigger and bigger each year and are a wonderful way to spend an evening with your family.

The viewing of the displays this year are scheduled between Sunday, Nov. 29th through Sunday, Dec. 27th. It is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are also special extended hours, Thursday, December 24th and open all night and all day Christmas Day until 10 p.m.

It has grown so much in popularity, that there are over fifty different displays each year. Local businesses and organizations rent spaces to decorate to bring holiday cheer.

One display this year is a monstrous 9,000 pound Christmas tree made of tires.

It has been built by Tredroc Tire Services featuring every single tire they sell at their business according to WTVO.

How do you keep a tree this big from falling down? Bolting the tires to the ground of course!

This will be one display I can't wait to see this year in Sinnissippi Park!
