We get it, Rockford has its problems but like most American cities on the list, there is plenty of good that goes on here.

That's why it's so disheartening to see Rockford named as one of the "Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S." for what seems to be the billionth time.

Rockford was ranked 12th in the U.S. while Monroe, Louisiana earned the dubious distinction as the most dangerous in America according to Neighborhood Scout.

All told, five cities in Illinois placed on the list of 100, with East St. Louis considered even "more dangerous" than Rockford. Also included on the list were Danville, Chicago, and Springfield.

Regardless of rank, there is plenty of good happening in Rockford. The Rockford Police "community policing" efforts have had a great impact on the crime rate in town.

"From 2016 to 2017, Rockford has seen a 5% drop in violent crime, 22% drop in robberies, a 30% drop in murders and the amount of car thefts have been cut in half." according to WREX.

You can see the changes in town. Yes, they are slow but gradual and with the right people in charge, complete change will occur.
