No big bags means a big bummer for moviegoers across the country, and possibly Rockford residents too.

According to KUTV in Salt Lake City, "Cinemark will no longer allow large bags in its establishments."

The bag and package policy on the Cinemark website says "In an effort to enhance the safety and security of our guests and employees: Any bags or packages measuring larger than 12" x 12" x 6" will not be permitted into the theatre." Meaning anything larger than a standard purse probably won't be allowed into the theater.

Cinemark will continue to allow medical bags and diaper bags into theaters.

Cinemark Theatres, the third largest movie chain in America behind Regal Entertainment Group and AMC Theatres, will institute the new policy on Thursday, February 22.

While the effect of the new bag policy won't reach Rockford, there isn't a Cinemark in the area, there is a very good chance the largest movie chain in America, AMC Theatres, could soon follow suit.

AMC Theatres, which has two locations in the Rockford area, currently doesn't have a "big bag" policy but when one major chain institutes something like this, you have to believe the others will soon follow.

If a policy similar to Cinemark's happens in Rockford how are we going to get our outside snacks into theaters?
