Alinea is one of the best restaurants in the world, and now they're hoping to serve a team full of hungry football players.

In case you missed it, the Clemson Tigers football won the National Championship last Monday taking down the Alabama Crimson Tide, the defending championships.

When any team, collegiate or professional, wins their league championship, they almost always receive an invite from the White House.

So the Clemson football team took their invite and visited Trump and the White House. Apparently, the government shutdown has taken its toll on the dinner. That's because Trump served burgers from McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's in the 14-seat State Dining Room, which normally hosts formal dinners.

Of course, the dinner caused a controversy, and that's where Alinea restaurateur Nick Kokonas stepped in saying:

The Clemson football team has yet to accept or decline Kokonas' invitation.

Alinea, 1723 North Halsted in Chicago, ranked 21st on TheWorlds50Best.com list of the world's best restaurants.
