Ok, so I know that school has already started for some of you, and it's about to start for the rest of the Rockford area next week, so it's hard for me to suggest this- but, you should probably consider taking the day off and keeping your kid home from school on Monday so you can plan a trip to the Adler Planetarium instead.

This is kind of a big deal- according to ABC 7 Chicago, they're offering free admission for the "historic" solar eclipse. Historic means history, which means the kiddos will still technically be getting an education that day.

They're also going to be holding a free block party with legit solar classes that will be safe for viewing the eclipse, food, science activities, outdoor games, obstacle courses and other educational activities.

See, it's educational; your child's teacher will totally understand. So, start writing out your "get out of school" note now; you don't want to miss this.

Oh, and if you can't go, I'll step up to the plate and volunteer to babysit for this one. I've never been to the Adler Planetarium, so I'd be happy to go in your place.
