In case you haven't noticed by the abundance of donut photos on social media or that special delivery of a box full of sugar coated deliciousness in your break room, it's National Donut Day. Or as we like to call it around here, everyday.

Everyday should be donut day. But, I digress, because when you're eating according to your goals, you really only do eat donuts on National Donut Day; if you don't then it's just considered a waste of free food. So, if you're going to treat yourself, you might want to make sure you're eating the best damn donut your city has to offer.

According to Alton Brown, the best donuts in Illinois can be found right here in the Rockford area.

To celebrate National Donut Day, one of his favorite holidays, Brown released a list of his favorite donuts in the U.S. and By the Dozen Bakery in Machesney Park made the cut.

Brown says, "This old-fashioned doughnut is the reason people like me keep eating old-fashions."

Would you believe that I live four blocks away from this place and still haven't been there? Looks like I know where I'm celebrating National Donut Day today. Eat up.
