America’s ‘Best Fried Chicken Chain’ Was In Rockford But We Didn’t Care
Did you know a fried chicken chain that is being hailed as “America’s best” used to be open in Rockford?
Well it’s not anymore, and to be brutally honest, I didn’t even know it was open or closed because up until today, I’ve never heard of Krispy Krunchy Chicken.
The oddly named fried chicken joint was opened in Rockford in 2013 and located at 479 South Springfield.
It must’ve come and gone quickly because there isn’t much information of when KKC (Krispy Krunchy Chicken) closed.
After what I read today, I kind of wish it was still open. Thrillist called KKC “America’s Best Fried Chicken Chain” and their chicken “might be the most underrated item in fast food today.”
Thrillist also went off about the sides KKC offers calling some the items “surprising” like the “rice-and-pork stuffed boudin bites, jambalaya, peach cobbler, sweet potato pie,” and the breakfast empanadas.
Lost in all this fried chicken goodness is that we had it, and we didn’t care about it.
Now if you have a KKC craving that needs filling, you’ll need to hop in your car and drive, like, all the way to Janesville. According to KKC’s website, the nearest location is at Janesville Exxon located at 1905 West Milwaukee Street.
