If you're a parent like me, getting as much mileage as you can from your child's Halloween costume is always a good thing. You spent good money and time on that thing, you need to show it off as much as possible.

Here's one event I'm adding to my family's Halloween fun to-do list, and hopefully you will too!

WhatSpook-tacular Haunts in the Gardens

Where: Anderson Japanese Gardens at 319 Spring Creek Rd. 

When: Saturday, October 28, 2017 3 to 5 p.m.

Why: Anderson Japanese Gardens is teaming up with Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehab & Education Center and Haunted Rockford for a Halloween event the whole family will love. Featuring: trick-or-treating through the gardens; Hoo Haven learning centers; Haunted Rockford spooky garden tours; Halloween crafts and games; candy apple station and even a spooky graveyard.
