‘IT’ Is Now the Biggest September Release in History
It is the adrenaline rush the box office sorely needed after a summer that could accurately be described as “pretty bad” — the new take on Stephen King’s doorstop of a novel is the best horror opening ever, the highest single-day box office for an R-rated movie, the lowest-budgeted movie to gross over $100 million in its opening weekend, and now it’s the biggest opening for a September movie in history.
Disney Released Teases of Three Delightful Songs From ‘Coco’
Ahead of the film’s November release Disney and Pixar have released teases of three of the movie’s toe-tapping songs, and from what we can hear, we might have the next Frozen on our hands.
Stephen King Fever Continues With a ‘Suffer the Little Children’ Adaptation
Have you seen It yet? How many times? It’s great, right? Adaptations of Stephen King’s work have always been iffy prospects, with about a 50/50 chance of actually being good. It looks like the year of King is soon to become the decade of King, as hot on the heels of It’s success, another director has turned his eye onto a similar project: King’s extremely creepy short story “Suffer the Little Children.”

MoviePass is one of those helpful ticketing deals that allows subscribers to see multiple movies a month at a reduced rate. For one monthly payment, you can see one movie per day essentially for free, and if you’re someone who goes to the movies a lot and can feel those box office prices squeezing your wallet dry, it’s always been a pretty good investment. Today, it turned into a ridiculously good investment.
John Boyega Says ‘The Last Jedi’ Gives Carrie Fisher a Proper Send-Off: ‘She Lives Forever in a Sense’
The biggest question going into Star Wars: The Last Jedi is how the movie will deal with Carrie Fisher’s passing. She had finished all of her scenes for the movie before her death last winter, but the series would be remiss if she wasn’t given a proper sendoff. We still don’t know if another actress will play General Leia in Episode IX, or if she’ll be somewhat written out of it, but John Boyega says she’s given her due in The Last Jedi.
Hasbro Finally Puts a Rey Token Into American ‘Star Wars’ Monopoly Sets — Two Years Late
Hopefully this means the end of the disappointingly ubiquitous #WheresRey hashtag. After forgoing including Rey (the main character) in the cast of figurines Hasbro made for their new Star Wars Monopoly sets, the toy company finally gave in and made a Rey token – but only for certain countries, and nowhere to be found in American toy stores. Their excuse was that American consumers aren’t interested enough in a Rey token for Hasbro to bother with it, which prompted the predictable amount of furious online backlash. Now, it looks like Hasbro has come to its senses.

The Muppets have been mired in a sort of scandal recently, started by the firing of Steve Whitmore, who had been the voice and hands of Kermit the Frog since the untimely death of Jim Henson in 1990. Now, Henson’s son Brian Henson has offered some more insight into the matter.
