Baby Porcupine Is First Of Its Kind Born At Chicago’s Brookfield Zoo
Meet Lucia & Eddie's baby boy, known as a porcupette. He is the first of his species to be born at the Brookfield Zoo and he's adorable.
At present, the little porcupette doesn't have a name. He was born on July 2 and didn't even weigh a whole pound. I didn't realize that when a porcupine is born, their quills are soft. Guess that a good thing for mom. The quills harden a few days later, according to wgntv.com.
In 10 weeks, this little cutie will join his parents at the Hamil Family Play Zoo and you'll be able to see him up close. For now, watch the video of him being fed with a bottle because for some reason mama wasn't allowing him to nurse.
