If I wasn't on the radio, I'd probably be covered in buttercream somewhere frosting cakes.

It's my favorite activity, because I think I'm a pretty creative person, but I can't draw at all, so cake decorating is a good outlet.

This weekend we celebrated my dad's birthday, and I took to Pinterest to find something dad-ish to make.

I tried something similar to this five years ago, without the can pouring on the cake, but really that is the coolest element.

You might be intimidated when you see it, but actually this cake was super easy. All I did was bake three 6-inch round cakes and put them together like you would any layer cake.

Then you find a dowel (or a stick or a kabob skewer) and push it through all the layers. Make sure the dowel is about 5 inches higher than the cake so that you can hang the can on top.

Wash the can first... unless you want beer frosting... and then just hang it up there! Frost the dowel with yellow frosting so it looks like the can is pouring the beer.

I forgot about the handle when I was making it, you could use pretzels put together with frosting, or really anything that looks like a handle. My dad found the handle I used in the garage. I obviously washed that too, and then just stuck it in the side.

You can use cake from a box, I prefer to make it from scratch, especially when I'm making shapes because they are sturdier from scratch.

I used this recipe from Paula Deen and made the cakes in 6-inch pans instead of 9-inch so that the layers would be taller. I dyed store bought frosting yellow for the beer frosting, I used two cans of vanilla.

The white foam frosting is this recipe, it's my favorite buttercream frosting, and it's incredibly easy. You can pipe the "foam" on with a decorating bag and a tip or, cut a hole in a plastic bag and just squeeze the frosting through the hole on to the cake.

That is it! Simple and impressive, which is always the best way to go.
