Bringing in some goats could be the answer to an unwanted plant problem for a business in Beloit, Wisconsin.

I hate doing yard work. I despise activities like mowing, raking, and pulling weeds.

It's been a joke with my wife for a long time that I would love to buy some goats to eat the grass and plants.

The problem with that plan is then I would have to take care of the animals.

Not only is a company in Beloit going to use my concept of goats for yard work, they are taking it to the next level.

According to beloitdailynews.com,

"Goats are how Alliant Energy hopes to take care of its invasive and noxious plant problem at its power plant site in the Town of Beloit. Alliant hopes to bring in a herd of 80 to 100 goats to eat some weeds on about eight acres of land near the southeast portion of the site near the Rock River."

That area is not zoned for animals, so they have to go ask the city for approval. I don't think it would be a problem because it's better than using a bunch chemicals.

If their plan gets the okay, you'll see goats on the site this fall.

I applaud them for coming up with an "out of the box" type idea to help protect the environment.

At this point, there is no word on a "goat job fair" to fill the position.
