Best Midwest Fall Foliage Road Trips to Take This Year

Fall is the season of beauty. The colors never cease to amaze me. There are so many gorgeous trips to take this time of year if you really want to soak it all in.

I came upon this article listing 30 places in the Midwest you should visit that will completely WOW you with their picturesque settings.

Several of them are pretty close to us and you could easily make a day trip out of them. Otherwise, pick one further away and find a nice little B & B and make it a romantic weekend getaway or a fun girls trip. These are the ones that are top on my list.

Lake Geneva: This is such a quick trip from Rockford, less than an hour. Put on your hiking shoes and make sure you have your camera. You can take the whole 21 mile trip around the lake, or just take a boat ride and sit back and enjoy the scenery. Either way you will be in Fall foliage heaven.

Door County: This is the closest to a New England autumn you will experience without hopping on an airplane. I've never been and it's definitely on my bucket list. I might just have to work in a Packer game while I'm up there.

Galena: I went for the first time over the summer, and have not stopped thinking about going back. You will fall in love with the quaint little town settled right on the Mississippi River. And I hear it really shines in the Fall.

Brown County, Indiana: Just google this place and you will be wanting to go this weekend. Artists used to travel here to be inspired by it's rolling hills and natural beauty. It's truly breathtaking.

Shawnee Hills Wine Trail: Yes please, you had me at wine. Along with wineries, you will find orchards, state parks, and bed and breakfasts. A bit of a drive since it's in Southern Illinois, but well worth the trip.
