A 13-year-old Maryland boy is facing assault charges for kissing a 14-year-old girl without her permission.

Hold up. Assault charges? Remember back in the day when you played "truth or dare" with your friends and you were dared to do something that seemed completely harmless at the time...like kissing someone? Or if you were the one who did get kissed, your immediate response was, "ooh, maybe that boy likes me..." or, "ewwww, that boy just gave me cooties..?" Apparently those days are over.

A 13-year-old boy, who hasn't been named because of his age, is facing second degree assault charges after he kissed a 14-year-old girl on a dare made by other students. No one was injured but the girl did say that the boy pulled her by the shirt to bring her close to him for the kiss. Any further disciplinary action will be  handled by the school.

So, this is the world we live in now. Does anyone else think this is a bit much? This is my biggest fear as the mother of a teenage boy; you just never know what kids are thinking these days.  The parents and teacher together should have handled this and no one else. Good grief. Nowadays, everything is "sexual assault"; even a kiss on a dare.

What do you think should happen to this young man?
