Alpine Valley in East Troy, WI is operated by Live Nation and the venue is losing money. To try and revive things they're converting 25 acres into a multi-use campground.

According to jsonline.com, 25.5 acres of parking lot will be converted into a massive campground. 554 campsites including 45 spots for RV's. The hope is that this move would attract more touring acts and several-day festival type shows that require camping.

The campgrounds would erase almost 10,000 from Alpine Valley's capacity but that's an upside too. Promoters are often apprehensive of booking shows at venues this large due to the challenge of filling every seat. Alpine Valley's current capacity is 37,000.

Live Nation has been working on approval for this transformation for over a year and construction is scheduled to be completed in time for camping when the Dave Matthews Band arrives on July 1 and 2.
