CherryVale Mall's new youth program starts tonight, Friday, March 17 at 4 p.m.

A few weeks ago we learned that the CherryVale Mall was implementing a new policy regarding mall visitors on Friday and Saturday evenings, and that policy goes in effect this afternoon.

According to the mall's website, the new policy titled, the Youth Escort Policy, states that all "visitors under 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years or older on Friday and Saturday evenings after 4 PM, or at any other time the policy is in effect."

The mall entrances will be monitored beginning at 4 p.m., and also if you are under 18 without an escort at that time, you need to leave the mall.

All of the details are on the CherryVale Mall's website, but one specific detail that I think is important to note is just how many children under the age of 18 one adult can "escort."

As someone who spent a lot of my teenage years at the mall with my friends, I think it's pertinent that parents know that if you are the parent a child, no matter how many children that includes, you are considered their guardian.

If you are taking children who are not yours to the mall, you make escort up to three visitors under 18, but one of them must be your child.
