Forget mustard and onions, this Chicago hot dog has none of that boring stuff.

We live in a amazing age of food creation don't you think? From TV channels devoted to wall-to-wall coverage of food, to incredible GIF recipes you see daily on Facebook, culinary artistry is taken to new heights daily.

There are so many ways to take something as standard and old fashioned as a hot dog and turn it into something completely different all the while keeping the idea of that food in tact.

Take the list I saw a couple of days ago from the Daily Meal. Where they tackled "The 10 Most Over-the-Top Hot Dogs in America."

For some, that means putting ketchup on a hot dog. For others that's grilled instead of raw onions.

For this list, it's taking the hot dog to the next level. Including taking a dog from a Chicago hot dog joint, Hot "G" Dog, and making something called a Foie Dog.

What is it? According to the Daily Meal, a Foie Dog is "a duck sausage topped with slices of foie gras mousse, truffle aïoli, and a sprinkling of fleur de sel. Hot dogs don’t get any classier than this occasional special."

I've never had anything with foie gras before. Looks kinda weird, and is controversial for sure, but by all accounts delicious.

Have you ever tried foie gras? Would it be worth the trip to Chicago just to try a hot dog?
