According to statistics reported by WGN TV, August of 2016 has been Chicago's deadliest month in 20 years.

With just one day to go in August, the total number of homicides in Chicago is 78. According to wgntv.com, the last time number were that high was in October of 1997 when the homicide number was 79.

67 were shot in the last weekend of August, 11 of those resulted in death, including Nykea Aldridge, a cousin of Chicago Bull Dwyane Wade.

So far in 2016, 2800 people have been shot in the city of Chicago, 400 of those were in the month of August.
