You've heard it, you've said it, you've probably tried it... but where does the phrase, "hair of the dog come from?"

Drink too many glasses of wine? Wake up and drink a mimosa. Go too hard on vodka and lemonade? Wake up to a Bloody Mary.

It's called the, "hair of the dog." You'll feel better from your hangover if you have a little more alcohol the next morning.

Does it work? Meh, sometimes... or it just pushes the hangover until the next day.. but the real question is why do we use the phrase?

According to Mirror, the phrase comes from using hair from a dog after it bites you to heal you. I'm sorry... what?

I feel so bad for all of those people who were bitten by dogs and then have to smell burnt dog hair to try to heal themselves.

Yeesh.
