Does This Pick-up Line Ever Work?

Gentlemen, if you've used this line before and it actually worked, please let us know.

A friend of mine told me this story last week and I had to share it to see if anyone thinks this pick-up line is a good idea.

My friend was at her friend's birthday party at a bar when a guy she knew from high school came up to her and started talking to her.

The two of them knew each other but really had never talked, also high school was over ten years ago.

The guy asked how she was, what she's been up too and walked away.

About an hour later when my friend was sitting at the bar, the guy from high school came back again and sat next to her and said, "you are way hotter than you were in high school."

C'mon guy, really? She didn't want to be rude, so she told him, "thanks? I guess that's better than the opposite," followed by, "I think I look exactly the same as I did in high school."

Since hearing the story, I can't stop wondering, does this pick-up line ever work?

If we ladies are being honest, we know that there's one situation when it would. If it was that guy from high school you were always in love with. He could say almost anything and it would work, but to any other guy, it's not a very good idea.
