Kids at Nelson Elementary School were in harms way recently when a car hopped a curb, causing a major scare and one arrest.

Rockford Police detained Roy Williams, 56, at the intersection of 600 15th Street last night shortly before 7 p.m. Investigators have since revealed that Williams' daughter had been involved in a fight with other kids in the area around Nelson Elementary.

According to the Rockford Police Department, Williams drove his car to the area to find those who were involved in the incident. Upon arrival, Williams parked, got out with a cane and threatened two of the 14-year-old girls at the scene.

The girls ran and he chased after in his 2006 Dodge Durango where Williams drove off the road and toward a group of 12 kids on the sidewalk.

Roy Williams was arrested on 12 counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle, and assault on public property, two counts of assault and one count each of reckless driving.and reckless conduct.
