It's that time of year when people start to think about and reflect on all the things that they're thankful for; you can't even scroll through your Facebook news feed without seeing at least 7 friends talking about what they're thankful for each day.

If you were to read the "Demolishing Cancer for David" Facebook page, you would see that David's family is thankful everyday for little 7-year-old Ayala. David was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was just 2 years old and after extensive treatment and multiple transplants, he was able to beat cancer three times; but the cancer has come back and instead of treating it, David's mom and dad have decided to stop treatment so they can give him an opportunity to experience a normal childhood before he passes.

Despite David's prognosis, he's been in very good spirits all thanks to Ayala, his second grade girlfriend. No one ever thinks that a second grader will find the love of their life in second grade, but Ayala has been a life saver.  After David was too sick to return to school, they received several letters from classmates; including letters from Ayala saying she loved him.

David's parents were so touched that they decided to get the two together for a date; his first and possibly his last. Ayala's parents approved and the two went bowling and had pizza. Ayala brought him gifts, pushed him around in his wheelchair, helped him bowl and David even got up and walked for the first time in a month. He really wanted to impress her.

Amber, David's mom, told ABC News , "Once we realized that this wasn't the typical elementary school crush, once we saw this heartfelt connection that they have, we were so happy that she came into his life and that he came to her life for some reason."

Even in dark; hopeless situations, love wins. Would you agree?
