However, there are a ton of great options when it comes to bringing your family to a museum in Chicago for free, as long as you're an Illinois resident.

Most recently, 'The Windy City Mama,' posted a video on Instagram outlining all of the free museum days we can take advantage of this April.

These options include:

  • Shedd Aquarium, free admission from 5-9pm on April 9, 16, 23, and 30
  • The Field Museum, free admission every Wednesday in April
  • Adler Planetarium, free admission every Wednesday from 4-10pm
  • Chicago History Musem, free admission on April 10, 18 and 24
  • Museum of Science & Industry, free admission on April 21
  • Dusable Black History Museum, free admission every Wednesday in April

The Windy City Mama notes in her post that the list is for April 2024, but most of these museums (and some other museums) participate in free admission days throughout the year.
