Former IceHog Goalie ‘Scores’ With Impressive New Helmet

Former Rockford IceHogs goalie, Scott Darling has a pretty sweet new goalie helmet that features one of the greatest of all time.

Darling's "bucket" as it's referred to as in a recent Instagram photo has garnered national attention for the interesting design on his helmet.

You'd think if he was going to feature one of the greatest of all time it would be someone who played the same sport that Darling does professionally.

You know, Gretzky, Lemeiux or Howe? Maybe an all-time great Chicago Blackhawk like Savard, Hull or Mikita.

It's none of those players actually. Darling, who had his goalie helmet designed by DaveArt features the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan.

Kind of makes sense on two different fronts. Darling plays in the same building that Jordan reigned supreme in the late 90s, the United Center.

Darling is also a Lemont native, a suburb just outside of Chicago, where he more than likely grew up idolizing Jordan.

Kind of an odd choice. A professional hockey player wearing a helmet featuring a basketball player.

However, if Darling continues to dazzle between the pipes while Corey Crawford nurses an upper body injury, he can wear whatever kind of "bucket" he wants.
