If you are in the market for a new bridge, the city of Chicago has one to give you for free.

I can't count the number of times I've heard the phrase, "if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you."

Well, it's true. There aren't many bridges available for sale. The old one is usually torn down before the new one is built. Plus, who actually needs an used bridge.

If for some strange reason you're in the market for one, Chicago is giving a bridge away.

According to timeout.com,

"Want to own a very large and unwieldy piece of Chicago history? According to a public notice that was posted earlier this month, the city is trying to find someone to take the Chicago Avenue Bridge off of its hands. If you can pick up the bridge from its current location and move it to a new place without damaging the historic structure, the city will let you have it free of charge."

Unless you have somewhere to put it and the ability to come to pick it up, it might be a little farfetched.

Think about this...

Someone bought the London Bridge and brought it to Lake Havasu, Arizona.

In Sturgis, South Dakota, the Full Throttle Saloon purchased two old bridges and had them on their property until the place burned down.

So, it's not totally unrealistic.
