On Tuesday (5/29) Gov. Bruce Rauner announced plans to spend $11.05 billion on infrastructure repairs and improvements in Illinois. Nearly 2,000 miles of state roads, 750 miles of local roads, and over 500 bridges will be repaired under this plan, according to wgntv.com.

Here's the good news for Rockford area residents. $26 million has been allocated to reconstruct U.S. 20 bypass in Rockford.

No word yet on when these projects will begin.
