Hilarious New Study Says Illinois Is One of the Least ‘Basic’ States In The US

Oh my gosh guys, I just love this. Sorry, that's just me at my most "basic."

Whether it be pumpkin spice lattes or UGG boots we all got some "basic" traits.

However, research shows some states are more "basic" than others.

Before we get there if you don't know what a "basic" person is, it's "an individual who is totally deprived of being extraordinary and sophisticated" according to Quora.

Urban Dictionary defines basic as "only interested in things mainstream, popular and trending."

Now that you know what "basic" means, know this, Illinois apparently is quite the opposite of "basic" according to Joybird.

Illinois ranked second (behind New York) as the least basic state in America. That's a good thing, right? I guess.

At some point, there's going to be a change. Liking what you like no matter what shouldn't qualify you as "basic."

Liking Pumpkin Spiced Lattes from Starbucks doesn't make you a "basic" person. It means you probably enjoy the taste of the drink. Starbucks brings it back year after year so it means most of America probably agrees.

On the other hand, if you don't like something but you find yourself going along with the trend, you might be "basic." Here's an example: You continuously jam your feet into a pair of UGG's because you believe they're trendy but hate the way they look and/or they're incredibly uncomfortable, ding ding ding, you probably qualify as "basic."

Regardless, don't worry about liking the "basic" things in life. If there's anything we've learned this past year, enjoying the simpler things in life is really the key to happiness. Even if it means sipping on a Pumpkin Spiced Latte. You do you boo.
