How Do You Say ‘Syrup?’ [POLL]

I'm not trying to say I'm right... I'm just trying to say I'm not the only one.

So yesterday, we were hanging out in the studio playing with chocolate syrup, because you know, every once in a while that's what you need to do on a Wednesday. I said something about the syrup, and pronounced the word "syrup" like I have been for the entire 27 years I've been alive.

The word hardly left my lips before Steve Shannon said, "chocolate what????" Like I was speaking a foreign language. Sweet Lenny and our friend, digital Rob, also thought what I said was ridiculous.

Really? Out of the four of us I'm the only one that pronounces it "see-rup?" Apparently.

Digital Rob made it a point to show me that I am incorrect. That the proper way to say the word is "sir-rup." Gross, that sounds like stirrup.

So. I will agree to take the incorrect point of pronunciation here BUT, what I really want to know is how many people say it the same why I do. Because the minute I had the chance I asked my parents and asked my Facebook friends, and I am not the only "see-rup" sayer.

Both of my parents say it like I do, with my dad using my exact "stirrup" defense, and so did four of my Facebook friends, including a fellow Italian. Which makes me think it's an ethnic thing... maybe?

Help me out! Someone reading this must share my "see-rup" pronunciation.
