It might be because I'm not in college anymore, but don't you think there's a very high percentage of sparkly posts in the last few years? Engagement rings have taken over.

Don't get me wrong, we are all happy for you. I just find the whole Facebook engagement announcement timing element interesting. When do you flash your new hardware?

It seems we have three different scenarios that come up when you get engaged

  • We have the immediate posters, saying yes while taking a selfie.
  • The, as soon as I tell my closet friends and family, girls. The day after the big proposal?
  • Then we have the, I haven't gotten to tell my long lost cousin from Barbados yet, so I think I have to wait before I tell the entire Facebook world, so like maybe a week.

I was really surprised that the amount of recently engaged ladies that fall into those three groups is pretty even.

  • 28% of brides-to-be update their status within hours
  • 24% of brides-to-be update their status the next day
  • 21% of brides-to-be update their status within a week.

Do these stats surprise you? They surprised me. I expected a whole lot more "next day" ladies, and much less "within a week" girls.

When did you update your Facebook status after getting engaged?
