Americans love coffee. We also love energy drinks and gels, and gums, we just love being caffeinated. Because it feels awesome, duh, but there are ways we can be more productive without guzzling our caffeine.

I actually fell asleep at 5pm the other Saturday because I only had one dose of caffeine, aside from being embarrassing, it might mean I need to rethink my caffeine-ing. So maybe I'll try these six things instead.

According to FastCompany.com, these six things will make you more productive without coffee.

  1. Green Tea - Yeah, we've heard this before, the natural caffeine packed with antioxidants. I will try it again in the winter, I guess, but it's not my fave.
  2. Taking a Break - Woo hoo! Yes, this is a good idea, people. Let's step away from work, from our computers and take a break, turns out we will come back to our desks with more productive energy.
  3. Power Naps - power naps are supposed to be more effective than caffeine, I'm afraid of naps, but maybe one before 10am would work.
  4. Hitting the Gym -  I agree 100% with this one. I feel a million times more alert and ready to be productive at work after cardio. Not so much strength training, then I want to sleep.
  5. Make it Warmer in the Office - This one surprised me. I thought we got sleepy when we get warm,. but it turns out when we get cold we daydream.
  6. Chocolate and YouTube Videos - I'm moving this to #1. Bring me a bag of chocolate chips and the ZOKTV YouTube channel.

What helps you stay awake?
