A local poet's work has been turned into a song filled with hometown pride and a mission to change  misconceptions.

The 'I Am Rockford' initiative was started by the Rockford Housing Authority last year and this music video was just released, according to rrstar.com. Carandus Brown, RHA employee and former resident wrote the poem that has been tired into the this uplifting song and now video filmed at several locations around Rockford.

Many Rockford Housing Authority residents and local musicians and singers helped put this project together. The same spirit fuels the words I've closed my show with for over 21 years... "One Nation, One People, Peace."
