The streets of Rockford might be patrolled by the "Dream Police" but according to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Forest City is out of their jurisdiction when it comes to our streets celebratory Cheap Trick signs.

After being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in April, the city put up four signs, one on East State Street near Bell School Road, on North Second Street as you enter Loves Park, on South Main near U.S. 20 and West State Street and Springfield Avenue; but now, they're not there.

According to the Rockford Register Star, IDOT says the signs were basically illegal; citing that they were considered a form of advertising and didn't abide by other state sign rules.  Maybe you didn't notice, but the state forced the city to remove them last month and now they sit in storage.

So...this is what the state is doing with their time now? A state with no budget, yet we have politicians demanding Rockford take four signs down? Maybe they're just upset because something tells me Cheap Trick brings in more money than the state does. Just a thought. Now let's get back to more pressing issues.
