Illinois Fisherman Finds Alligator In Lake Michigan

An Illinois man was surprised to spot an alligator in Lake Michigan while he was fishing.

When I first saw this story, I thought this guy might be telling a "Fish Story" or maybe because it's close to Halloween it was an "Urban Myth," but it looks like it could be the real deal.

According to wgntv.com,

"Police in northern Illinois were surprised Monday when they got reports of an alligator swimming in Lake Michigan. They were even more surprised to find out reports of a reptile were true."

The Waukegan man was fishing in Lake Michigan when he saw something strange. He thought it might have been a toy until he got closer when he realized it was real.

The animal was a four-foot long caiman with its mouth taped shut.

A video was sent to the authorities.

"Waukegan Police Animal Control and staff at Larsen captured the animal and took it to the Wildlife Discovery Center in Lake Forest, Illinois."

The police are investigating where it might have come from.

"Illinois has strict exotic animal laws."
