Illinois Home Goes All Out With Christmas Light Show For Sick Child
Technology sure has changed since the year National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation hit theaters. Imagine if Clark Griswold was decorating his home in 2017 and didn't have to struggle with all the pains of giant time-consuming decorations. Surely he wouldn't have as bad of luck like in the movie. One thing is certain, this house an hour from Rockford has set the bar for "craziest Christmas lights" in Illinois.
The Christmas light show mixes synchronized video and thousands of lights to music, creating a dazzling holiday display on their house and front lawn.
The best part of the light displays, which you are about to get a peek at, are the donations visitors are able to make while watching the show. The owners of the Park Ridge, IL home (Tim & Tina Grusecki) put on a Christmas light/music show each year and donate 100% of the proceeds to a charity. This year it benefits 12-year-old Benny Martinez, who was recently diagnosed with the most common pediatric brain cancer, medulloblastoma. The Grusecki's, whose on James goes to school with Benny, will be making their annual donation to St. Baldrick's this year in honor of him. Last year's light show raised $36,000 for a company that offers short-term financial assistance to military veterans.
The light show usually runs 5-8:30 p.m. on weeknights and 5-9:30 p.m. on weekends in Park Ridge, IL. [map]
