This is going to sound silly, but last year, thanks to a pumpkin shortage in Illinois, I didn't carve any pumpkins and I never got a single piece of pumpkin pie. I probably took the word "shortage" to the extreme but I wanted to save all the harvested pumpkins for the munchkins.

Sounds like that won't be a problem this year. According to WREX, Illinois farmers say this year's pumpkin harvest is much better than last years thanks to better growing conditions. Maybe you forgot, but last year we got too much rain and it drowned pumpkin vines all over Illinois.

By the way, did you know that Illinois is the top producer of pumpkins in the country? According to the Illinois Farm Bureau Partners, the Land of Lincoln produced more than twice as many pumpkins as second-ranked California; making it the Great Pumpkin State.  Pretty cool, huh?
