I had no idea that the "Most Popular TV Show" in Illinois show was set here. The Wisconsin choice however was a slam dunk.

A new list posted to IMDb a few days ago went through each and every state trying to figure out the "Most Popular TV Shows Set in Every State."

The choice for Illinois is Showtime's Shameless, starring William H. Macy.

Full disclosure, I've never watched Shameless. It's always interested me, but I've never gotten around to watching it.

A closer look at the show reveals that it has been on since 2011, and is now in 7th season. 84 episodes in, it appears I'll probably never see Shameless, but who knows. The thought of watching that many episodes sounds like a monumental task.

On the plus side for Shameless, it has received much critical acclaim. It has been nominated for 50 awards (Golden Globes, Emmy Awards, Screen Actors Guild, etc) winning 8 of them.

However, not all lists are the same. A list published late in 2015 by Reboot Illinois says Fox's The Simpson's is the most popular show in Illinois.

Also on the list, Wisconsin's "Most Popular TV Show" was That '70s Show.

What do you think? Does Shameless deserve the pub for most popular show set in Illinois? Should it be The Simpson's or something else?
