‘It’s a Beautiful Day to Save Lives’ and Your Sanity; Sign the Petition to Save McDreamy [VIDEO]

Shonda Rhimes gave them no choice.  A Grey's Anatomy fan has started a petition to bring back Patrick Dempsey.

The one man that I've had the longest; most sane relationship with. And wouldn't you know, it ended just like any other relationship that I've had- abrupt and with no explanation for why it had to end.

So what happens next? It really feels like many of us Grey's fans are suffering a tragic loss and we find ourselves going through the same grieving process as if this was real life.  Since Derek was killed, I've laid awake at night, wondering what went wrong; asking myself why it had to end; playing it over and over again in my head.  It was the answer to those questions that explain why I won't be signing the petition to bring McDreamy back to the show.

Yep, someone started a petition to bring back McDreamy and I support their efforts 99%; I just won't be signing it and here's why: Shonda Rhimes is not going to bring him back. Sure, I think she owes us something; I mean after all, you don't end a ten year relationship with someone without letting us say "goodbye"; even my crappy boyfriends gave me that.  But for this to be so abrupt, there has to be more to this ending than we know about.

Just last week, word came out that Dempsey might be leaving the show because Rhimes was sick of his diva ways. There was also some speculation that he just needed a break, but to go and kill the man without warning clearly sends the message that Rhimes was so over it and so over him.

Unfortunately, for us, she probably doesn't give a hoot how much we want him back. If you follow her on Twitter, her bio says: "I make stuff up for a living. Remember, it's not real, okay? Don't tweet me your craziness."

But don't let that stop you, if you want to sign the petition to get Patrick Dempsey back, please do. Just because I'm not signing it, doesn't mean I don't want McDreamy back too.
