How many people love themselves some Black Friday shopping? Last year alone, approximately 137 million people shopped on Black Friday. It has been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005. It used to be that Black Friday started at 6 a.m. on the Friday following Thanksgiving. then it was bumped up to 4 a.m., then midnight, and in recent years, it's been moved all the way up to 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening. I don't know about you, but I would much rather be at home spending time with my family on Thanksgiving than out fighting the crazy crowds.

CBL Properties, who owns both malls, made the Thanksgiving Day closing announcement Wednesday (10/11). CBL did leave it optional for stores with exterior entrances to be open on Thanksgiving Day.

Let's just leave the Black Friday shopping to exactly that. FRIDAY. And leave Thanksgiving alone. I was so happy to see that CherryVale Mall and Janesville Mall will be completely closed on Thanksgiving, and not reopen until Friday November 24th at 6 a.m.. Kudos to CBL Properties for making this decision.

If only all of the other stores would follow in suit. What are your thoughts?
