How well do you think your dog knows their surroundings? Probably well enough that you feel comfortable letting them outside for a few minutes to play or relieve themselves; knowing that they'll come running right up to the sliding glass door with their nose pressed up against the window pane as their means to let you know that they're ready to come back inside.

But what if those few minutes turned into 20, than an hour and after waiting up all night, your furry friend still hasn't come home. The last time your dog did this, you found them down the block; pooping in a neighbors backyard, but this time they're no where to be found.  What would you do? Where else would they go?  Luckily, your dog has a microchip so you take some comfort in knowing that if someone does find your baby, they'll bring him to the nearest animal shelter, stat.

Thankfully for 8-month-old Siberian Husky, Raven, she was microchipped, so when she wandered off from her home in Lincoln, Nebraska, her owners were able to be located and contacted.

According to WTVO, Raven traveled 476 miles, in 6 days, all the way to Rockford where she was brought to Winnebago County Animal Services, and thanks to that microchip, she was reunited with her family.

This is the kind of thing that Pixar films are made of and an excellent reminder to have your pets microchipped.
