For the last few days the city of Las Vegas has been on all of our minds. Horrific images, terrifying videos and stories of heroic acts being shared all over social media have every American questioning whether or not they would know what to do if they were in that situation.

Would you? If you wouldn't, don't feel bad; I don't think anyone really does. And now more than ever, we need to make sure that we are prepared if tragedy does strike; which is why the Winnebago and Boone County Sheriff's departments are holding a mass casualty drill next week.

According to MyStateline.com, the departments will simulate a bombing at the BMO Harris Bank Center, as well as a vehicular assault and barricaded suspect at the Cherry Valley Fire Department on Blackhawk Road.

The simulation will take place on October 11th; if you'd like to volunteer, you need to register by 5 p.m. tomorrow, October 5th, by contacting the Rockford Fire Department at 779-348-7171.
