The Blue Angels are the George Clooney of airplanes.

Seriously, they are. I grew up in an airline family. My dad has been working at an airport since he lied about his age to get a job when he was 17. I feel like I grew up at O'hare.

I've been in more than my share of 747s but working in Rockford has given me the opportunity to ride some smaller planes at media day for Rockford Airfest.

Last year I got to be on board when the Golden Knights performed during Airfest and this year I got to go on a media ride with Fat Albert and the Blue Angels.

My brothers and my dad have never been so jealous of me.

While it was a crazy awesome experience to ride with Fat Albert and I loved the chance to get a (noisy) interview with Dusty Cook from the Fat Albert family, I felt like I was going to puke for about two hours after the flight.

Seriously, I am so thankful that Lori from the Eagle was riding with me because I dug every finger nail I have into her hand, and I leaned into her the entire time. I was that scared.

But you know what? Being weightless is scary! It's so weird to feel like an astronaut and have your entire body fly out of your seat. We did have a seat belt, so that's good, but I still totally flew out of my seat and seriously ended up almost sitting on the woman on the other side of me. We're obiouvsly friends now.

I thought Fat Albert was just a plane that flew out before the Blue Angels, I had no idea I was going to experience "G"s or being weightless and flying out of my seat. It's probably a good thing I didn't know until it happened.

Airfest is this weekend and you absolutely need to go to see the Blue Angels!
