We can all agree that the Olympics are kind of a big deal. Rockford has had the pleasure of being being called home to a few Olympians over the years.

One of the most notable ones being figure skater Janet Lynn. She competed in 2 Olympics, and won the bronze medal in 1972. Lynn has recently written a book, "The Wheel, Legacy of Excellence". The book is a tribute to the people who helped shape her career, and to the historic Wagon Wheel in Rockton, IL where she trained.

The event is being held this Sunday, September 25th from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Carlson Ice Arena, located at 4150 N Perryville Rd, Loves Park, IL.

The book will be available for purchase for $22, and part of the proceeds will go to the Rockford Park District Figure Skating program. Parents, if you have a son or daughter who loves figure skating, you won't want to miss this opportunity for your them to meet this legendary skater from right here in our hometown.  And while you're there, don't forget to sign your little one up for some lessons.
