If you ask any of my single friends what it's like dating in Rockford, here's what you'll get- a severe case of side eyes, followed by a lengthy sigh. My interpretation of that is that it's rough; dating is rough anywhere. They've cited several reasons for why it's hard to meet someone here but the common denominator between them all is that "there isn't really a place to meet singles in the area."

Well, that was before Pokemon Go. Now single men and women in the Stateline, who maybe wouldn't typically leave the comfort of their couch, are coming out in droves to catch virtual creatures all over the place.

And now, thanks to a new dating app, while you're catching Squirtle and Mewtwo, you can also catch the love bug while playing the popular game. According to Buzzfeed, you can now download the dating service just for Pokemon Go players, "PokeDates."

Here's how it works:

  1. First you need need to sign up on the PokeDates website.
  2. Share your schedule, let them know when you're free to catch Pokemon.
  3. Confirm your first PokeDate, which is free, after getting details about your Pokematch; including a time and place to meet.
  4. Show up at the right place, at the right time, and start playing the game together.

Ok, Pokemon Go fans, who's signing up? It would surely make for a great story to tell you grandchildren when they ask how you met.  However, it does give a whole new meaning to dating the trainer you met at the gym.
