In a world where chocolate cake shakes exist, you should have one for dinner. Tonight, make your own.

When Portillo's came to Rockford, Sweet Lenny asked all of you on Facebook what's the first thing you'd order once it arrived.

Sure some of you said cheese fries, a few beef sandwiches (ok, more than a few), but the biggest repeat answer we got was the chocolate cake shake.

Because chocolate cake and ice cream are meant to be together, and when you can suck it up a straw, it's all kinds of amazing.

Today is National Chocolate Cake day, so my goodness please celebrate with this.

In order to make the shake, you must first make the chocolate cake. You will need the copycat recipe for the cake, which includes the secret ingredient, mayonnaise.

Here's your shopping list:

  • 1 box Betty Crocker super moist chocolate butter recipe (has to be this one!)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup ice cold water
  • 1 cup Hellman’s regular mayonnaise
  • 2 cans Betty Crocker creamy chocolate frosting

Follow the baking directions here, and then after the cake is all ready to go, get out the ice cream to make the shake!

Make the shake by combining a huge slice of the chocolate cake, 6 scoops of your favorite chocolate ice cream and a splash of milk.

Yeah, this isn't for the lactose intolerant.
