If you're from the Rockford area; lived here your entire life, it can be easy to lose sight of all the hidden gems here. Whether it's an off the beaten path diner, an overlook at one of the park districts 150 parks or a place like Anderson Japanese Gardens, it's easy to get caught up in the "been there, done that" mentality and we soon forget that these wonderful places exist here.

Another example of one of Rockford's hidden gems, one I have yet to visit, is Midway Village. OnlyinYourState named the village, specifically it's Millhouse, as "The One Enchanting Place in Illinois That Must Go on Your Bucket List Immediately."

Those who have visited the village say it's like taking a trip back to the 1900's, that every building looks 100% authentic and it's a beautiful place to visit all year round.

If you've never been to the old Millhouse or just simply forgot how amazing it was, then make some time to take the family back...way back in time at the Midway Village Museum.  They have some pretty incredible events coming up like dinner with General Patton, World War II Days and a USO Dance. How fun.
