Rockford Couple Marries at Local Hospital After a Medical Emergency

What is it about weddings that always makes us cry?

If you're anything like me, you could attend a strangers wedding and the minute the doors at the back of the chapel open and "Canon in D" starts to play, you become a puddle of tears on the floor. Just watching Mori Jo Melling's big day on Facebook brings tears to my eyes.

But, this isn't exactly how Mori Jo and Patrick's wedding day was supposed to go.

According to WIFR,  Mori Jo and Patrick had been planning a low key destination wedding in Mexico when their plans came to an abrupt halt after Mori Jo had to be rushed to OSF Saint Anthony for surgery to remove a cyst and a tumor from her brain.

That wasn't going to stop them, however, from tying the knot on their originally planned wedding date. It's practically a miracle. Mori Jo told WIFR, "Our plan A obviously didn't include any of this, but this was a very, very good plan B."

She went on to give thanks to the hospital and staff; they made her feel very special on a very special day. Nurses even came in on their day off to do her hair.
